to see more in plastic, micro- and reconstructive surgeryThe SPY Imaging System leverages Novadaq’s core technology platform to produce real-time visual images of blood vessels in minutes during plastic, micro- and reconstructive surgeries. In these surgeries, SPY may enable surgeons to:
Historical studies have shown that complications such as partial flap loss, tissue necrosis and congestion, can occur in 15-30% of patients undergoing breast reconstruction, some of which require patients to return to surgery. The use of SPY to visualize adequate blood flow and perfusion in both harvested and surrounding native tissue at the site of the reconstruction, in real-time, may reduce the occurrence of complications and improve overall outcomes. SPY may also be suitable for use in other plastic, micro- and reconstructive surgeries such as breast reduction, abdominoplasty, skin grafting and digital and limb reattachment. Novadaq received pre-market notification 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January 2007 for use of the SPY Imaging System during plastic, micro- and reconstructive surgery. |
