Autofluorescence bronchoscopy has become firmly incorporated as a standard of care

“Autofluorescence bronchoscopy has definitely enhanced my ability to treat patients with lung cancer and I am glad to see that it is now being recommended by the ACCP. Autofluorescence, compared to the gold standard white light bronchoscopy, provides for a more detailed assessment of the patient’s anatomy before pulmonary resection, a more accurate assessment for the presence of early lung cancers, and the ability to more precisely perform endoluminal therapies such as Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT). Autofluorescence bronchoscopy has become firmly incorporated as a standard of care into our algorithm for the management of patients with lung cancer.”
